The story of African Extracts began in 2000 when Cape Town entrepreneur Rob Tiffin developed a Rooibos-based skin-care range for the European market. His company – Scentpac – manufactures a wide range of private label skin-care ranges and gift sets for leading retail stores. With the support of his journalist wife and former beauty editor Sarah Hetherington, the marketing of this uniquely South African skin-care range began.

In 2004 the range was launched in South African pharmacies and grew, mainly through word of mouth, as thousands of women tried – and liked – the products, and the contemporary simplicity and natural Rooibos extract underpinning the brand.

As the retail footprint has expanded to major supermarkets and stores like Dis-Chem and Clicks, African Extracts Rooibos has become the top-selling local skin-care brand in its category, challenging the international giants.

Growing sales and availability has been matched by product innovation. New ranges for young, problem and combination skins, more mature, dry skins and targeting dark patches and pigmentation have been launched, all manufactured and packed at the company’s modern, quality-assured facility in Cape Town.

Based on the latest skin-care research and trends, and natural plant extracts and active ingredients, African Extracts Rooibos is setting the standard for accessible, affordable, effective skin care in South Africa.
