Dry skin? This is why cleansing is so important
Did you know that cleansing the right way is crucial for dry skin. Irritants, such as daily pollutants, makeup and natural skin excretions, can cause irritation and weaken the skin’s natural moisture barrier. The right cleansers also manage your skin’s pH balance which means a healthy skin barrier that’s better able to retain hydration and make the best use of the active ingredients in your creams and serums.
For fans of our hydrating Advantage and anti-wrinkle Hydrofirm Vitamin C products, here’s some good news. We’ve formulated not one but two cleansers to work with key active ingredients, hyaluronic acid, ceramides and antioxidants, to give you the best possible skin conditioning.
Choose Advantage Micellar Cleanser, with Bio-Active Rooibos antioxidants and moisturising Crambe seed oil, an oil-based formula that attracts dirt and impurities and floats away makeup. Or Hydrating Cleanser, a creamy cleanser with Hyaluronic Acid, Rooibos and revitalising Resurrection plant extract.
For a double cleanse, use the oil-based Micellar Cleanser followed by the cream-based Hydrating Cleanser, confident that even a thorough cleansing will be gentle on your skin barrier.
Cleansing tips for dry skin
- Choose a more-gentle cream or oil-based micellar cleanser for dry skin or when you’re showing the signs of ageing, such as fine lines, loss of firmness and a rough, flaky surface.
- If you’re wearing makeup, try using a micellar cleanser first to remove heavier or waterproof makeup and then cleanse again with a creamy, non-drying cleanser to remove all traces.
- Gently massage cleansers into your skin to loosen dead surface skin cells for a brighter look, then rinse with lukewarm water, not hot water.
- Pat your skin dry with a soft towel, avoiding friction that can irritate your skin.
